Matthew is very active with his multiple jobs.  His main job is working for the Athletic Department at Grand Valley State University.  His title is Game and Event Manager.   The duties of his job include preparing the arena for athletic contest.  This includes:

• Placing the scoring tables
• Setting up the portable basketball hoops
• Setting up and testing sound equipment
• Placing fan control devices
• Coordinating with Ticket Sales/Marketing/Concessions/Department of Public Safety
• Greet and host visiting team
• Greet and host officials
• Manage scoreboard/soundboard
• Monitor fan behavior and  discipline appropriately
• Assist fans with any questions they may have
• Assist and solve any problems before/during/after athletic contest

Matthew also works during the summer for the Allendale Township Little League.  He is the man making sure the fields have been groomed and prepped for all the games.  His main duties are:

• Groom the fields
• Chalk the batters box
• Chalk the first and third base line
• Place bases in the correct position

The third job that Matthew has is a staff member at the Rec Center at Grand Valley State University.  This job is just a part-time position through the summer.  Duties of this position include:

• Scan patron's ID when they enter the rec center
• Answer phones and answer question/transfer call to appropriate party
• Monitor the usage of equipment by patrons and look for safety problems
• Wipe down and clean equipment
• Anything else requested by Field House and Rec Center managers

Matthew is also a registered high school basketball and track and field official.  Matthew officiates during the basketball season whenever he can fit it into his schedule.  If you are interested in hiring Matthew as a official please contact him
